About John

Having initially qualified as a Legal Executive in private practice, John subsequently worked as an in house legal adviser to a group of blue chip building companies, returning to private practice to qualify as a solicitor and to concentrate on commercial and building litigation.

John specialises in dispute resolution, where he has more than 25 years of experience. He has acted for and advised small businesses, major charities and building organisations throughout the South and South West and has extensive experience as both a litigator and in arbitration, adjudication and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Working from the Sherborne office, John believes that early identification of relevant information, a sound commercial awareness and identifying the client’s objectives are key to achieving a successful outcome in dispute resolution.

Recent cases undertaken include:-

• negligence claims on behalf of major charities against their former auditors;
• claims against major property developer for subsidence and breach of warranty;
• disputed final account for hotel refurbishment;
• substantial Inheritance Act claims involving disputed Wills;

Outside the office John is keen on walking, foreign travel and classic cars.
